Long Branch Residential Preserve

The Odyssey Company is the long-held dream of dedicated environmentalist, outdoorsman, wilderness medical doctor, and community activist Chris Moore. A native of the Southeast Tennessee, Dr. Moore has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Nature Conservancy of Tennessee since 1999. He is currently a member of the Tennessee State Conservation Board and has served locally on the Board of Trustees for the Tennessee River Gorge Trust, the Chattanooga Nature Center, and as an Advisor for the Lula Lake Land Trust. Additionally, Dr. Moore serves on the Board of Directors of the national Wilderness Medical Society (www.wms.org).

Before becoming a physician, Dr. Moore owned and operated a summer camp and taught at the famed Baylor School in Chattanooga, where he founded the nationally-recognized Walkabout Program. (These influences are apparent in the overall feel of Long Branch, which has preserved fully three times the amount of land it has developed, endeavoring to disturb as little of the latter as possible.)

Because of his abiding interest in the Chattanooga community and the area’s plentiful outdoor amenities, Dr. Moore founded Outdoor Chattanooga, a nonprofit entity that is now owned and operated by the City of Chattanooga. (Importantly, one of Outdoor Chattanooga’s emerging amenities is the Cloudland Connector Trail that will be part of the region’s existing trail network and that already wends its way through a portion of Long Branch’s preserved area. Property owners will therefore have this wonderful amenity right at their doorstep for walking, jogging, riding, and biking.)

Among Dr. Moore’s varied interests are mountain biking, whitewater paddling, climbing, tennis, and golf. He and his wife Ellen reside on Lookout Mountain and have four children.
